Description	:	Pearl Ruth Klay, 78, of Hull died Wednesday, February 9, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Nursing Facility. Funeral service was Saturday, February 12, at 9:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Mrs. Klay was born on February 4, 1927, near Platte, South Dakota, the daughter of Harko and Jennie (Holleman) De Boer. They resided... Read More	Pearl Ruth Klay, 78, of Hull died Wednesday, February 9, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Nursing Facility. Funeral service was Saturday, February 12, at 9:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Mrs. Klay was born on February 4, 1927, near Platte, South Dakota, the daughter of Harko and Jennie (Holleman) De Boer. She was raised at Platte, until the age of 11, when she moved to Hollandale, Minnesota, where she graduated from the eighth grade. On January 12, 1950, she married Percy G. Roskamp in Titonka. They resided near Belmond and later moved to Clarion. He died September 2, 1964, in Belmond. She then moved to Kanawha with her five children. On July 25, 1966, she married Herman Vander Ploeg in Kenawha. They made their home in Hull. He died December 17, 1976, in Hull. On May 16, 1987, she married Roger E. Klay in Hull. They continued to live in Hull. He died on January 1, 2003, in Hull. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and attended the Coffee Break Bible Study. She enjoyed reading, gardening and being with her families, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and also a certified nurse's aide at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull for 15 years. Survivors include her two daughters, Patricia and Paula; three sons, Philip, Palmer and Preston; six step-children, Cathryn, Bruce, Arlen, T. J., Mary and Nancy; 12 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Marie, Louise, Esther, Jennie, Evelyn and Viola; two brothers, Wendell and Paul and Kathleen; two sisters-in-law, Alice and Lena; two brothers-in-law, William and Bert; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson; three sisters; and three brothers.
