Description	:	PROTECTION — Pearl Sadie Loucks, 91, died Thursday (Feb. 23, 2006) at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. She was born June 21, 1914, to Jonathan and Fanny (Jantz) Koehn on a farm southwest of Protection. She married Vernon L. Loucks June 6, 1937, at Calvary Mennonite Church in Greensburg. He preceded her in death May 14, 1995. She was a homemaker. She also worked at the Kiowa County Courthouse as a bookkeeper for Protection Automotive and Louck's Service in Protection during her life. Read More	PROTECTION — Pearl Sadie Loucks, 91, died Thursday (Feb. 23, 2006) at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. She was born June 21, 1914, to Jonathan and Fanny (Jantz) Koehn on a farm southwest of Protection. She married Vernon L. Loucks June 6, 1937, at Calvary Mennonite Church in Greensburg. He preceded her in death May 14, 1995. She was a homemaker. She also worked at the Kiowa County Courthouse as a bookkeeper for Protection Automotive and Louck's Service in Protection during her life. She was a longtime resident of the Protection area, moving there in 1952 from Canton. She attended country schools in Kiowa County and also attended short Bible term classes at Hesston College for two winters. She was a member of Protection Mennonite Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Other memberships included W.M.S.C., and Menninger Bible Study Group, and she was a prayer warrior for missionaries. She also was an avid reader, book collector, family historian and enjoyed singing. Survivors include: sons, Orlin Loucks and wife Eudora of Protection and Lynn Loucks and wife Karen of North Newton; a daughter, Marlene Loucks Vargas of Chicago; sisters, Marjorie Dirks of Montezuma and Madesta Giesbrecht and husband Milton of Montezuma; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by: brothers, James, Leonard, Wilbur and Emerson Koehn; sisters, Bessie and Karolina Koehn; and a grandson, Samuel Loucks. Funeral service was Saturday at Protection Mennonite Church with Pastor Del Regier officiating. Burial wase in Protection Mennonite Cemetery south of Protection. Memorials have been established with Protection Mennonite Church and Protection Valley Manor, both in care of the funeral home, Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
