Description	:	Mrs Ledge (Pearl) Crawford, 80, whose husband died Jan 29, died Friday at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Walker Funeral Home Sunday with Preacher Glen Mitchell in charge. Vocal music was by Glen Mitchell, and the organist was Miss Aletha L. Hutchings. Casket bearers were Howard Sturm, Cleo Sturm, Maurice Wycoff, Verlin Burns, Clark Crawford, and Dale Crawford. Burial was at the side of her husband in Memory Cemetery near New Market. Mrs Crawford was born July 9, 1886 near Dunlap, Ill, the daughter of T.J. and Nora Sturm. When she was eight, the family moved to a farm near Sharpsburg. In 1904 Pearl was married to Roy Bales. They had one son, Orval Edwin Bales. They lived on a farm near Sharpsburg until Mr Bales died. On July 9, 1929 she was married to Ledge Crawford. They worked in Lincoln, Neb, at the Mental Health Institute until 1951 moving to a farm northeast of New Market. In 1958 they moved to New Market. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother and sister. Besides her son Orval of McCook, Neb, and three step-daughters, Mrs Oma Morgan of Iowa Falls, Mrs William Holman and Mrs Waive Wolfe of Cherokee, she is survived by two sisters, Olive Cummings of Council Bluffs and Lula Beemer of Creston, and two brothers, Harl Sturm of Gravity, and Irve Sturm of Belt, Mon. She had two granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren. She was an avid letter writer and reader. In recent weeks she had been reading the new version of the Bible for the second time.
