The family received friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Mayodan Moravian Church followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial was made in the Church Graveyard. Mrs. Peggy Cardwell Tuttle, 90, beloved mother and grandmother, departed this earthly life Monday, April 22, 2019, at Annie Penn Hospital. The family received friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Mayodan Moravian Church followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial was made in the Church Graveyard. Mrs. Tuttle was born in Rockingham County on October 24, 1928, to the late Joseph Thomas Cardwell and Ola Vernon Cardwell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tuttle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Donald Tuttle; son, Britt Lee Tuttle; daughter, Dee Tuttle Evans and brother, Raymond Hampton. She was a graduate of Mayodan High School and attended Appalachian State. Peggy was a member of the Mayodan Moravian Church and was co-owner of Lee’s Self Service grocery store. Mrs. Tuttle and her husband also had a furniture import business. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Peggy was the family’s angel on earth. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Tuttle Wall (Steve); grandchildren, Heather Hannequin (Christophe), Courtney Wall Kerce (Brett); great-grandchildren, Alex and Caroline Hannequin, Brooke Elizabeth and Caleb Kerce; brother, Vernon Cardwell (Deborah); son-in-law, Jimmy Evans (Fonda) and daughter-in-law, Eve Tuttle. In addition to her immediate family, Mrs. Tuttle is survived by several nieces and nephews. Her very special friends include Tammy and Jason Ward and Jane King Ward. A special thank you to Dr. Donald Moore and his nurse Jamie Bullins for the compassionate and expert care that they have always given to Mrs. Tuttle. Mrs. Tuttle was also blessed with many wonderful healthcare workers. These include: Sharon Reid, Pauline Corum, Trish Walker, Brenda Bailey, Patricia Maness, Betty Reed, Meredith Witherspoon and Barbara Mabe. The family will never forget all the kindness that each of them showed to Mrs. Tuttle. Memorials may be made to the Mayodan Moravian Church, 104 S. 3rd Ave, Mayodan, NC 27027. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
