Born May 1, 1921, in Hampton, Iowa, daughter of Thomas Ignatius and Elsie Elizabeth (Depping) Christie. She married Raymond Irvin Jetmund on Aug. 1, 1948, in Dows, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1974. She attended MacMurray College in Illinois, graduating magna cum laude in 1943 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1974. She attended MacMurray College in Illinois, graduating magna cum laude in 1943 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education. She later earned a Master of Arts degree in special education from Iowa State University. Peggy was a gifted pianist and teacher with over 60 years teaching piano, marching band, general music and special education at over a dozen Iowa schools. She retired in 1993 after 15 years at Jesup Community School. She served on numerous music/education boards and committees and was a well-respected, certified adjudicator for piano competitions. Beginning in 2003, Peggy made progressively longer visits to daughter Diane on Martha's Vineyard island. Peggy loved the island, insisting on daily drives along the water's edge. She made many friends there, including a spunky group of peers and staff that were in her cherished Supportive Day Program. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, burial in the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo. Obituary & photo published by Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Friday, May 16, 2008
