Description	:	Peggy J. Miksch, 59, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Great River Hospice in West Burlington after failing in health since Oct. 30. Born Nov. 6, 1953, in Washington, she was the daughter of Edward Charles and Dorothy Putman Chabal. On April 20, 1974, she married Allen Miksch in Washington. Born Nov. 6, 1953, in Washington, she was the daughter of Edward Charles and Dorothy Putman Chabal. On April 20, 1974, she married Allen Miksch in Washington. Mrs. Miksch lived on a farm southeast of Washington for 39 years, and for the last 10 years, she worked as a floral designer at Hy-Vee Floral. She previously worked 28 years at Wolf Floral and worked at Bezdex Flowers in Marion. She grew up on the Knotek farm, graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1971, studied at Iowa State University and graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in floral design. She was active in 4-H and showed pigs at the county and state fairs in her youth, was crowned Washington County Pork Queen and in high school and was a baton twirler. She was a member of First Christian Church in Washington. She was active in the Iowa Youth Quarter Horse Association and was a past youth adviser. She collected antiques and enjoyed going to antique shows and Old Threshers Reunions and time with family, especially with her grandson. She was known as a devoted wife and mother and for caring for others before herself. Survivors include her husband; one son, Louie Miksch of Washington; one daughter, Molly Miksch of Washington; one grandchild; her mother of Washington; one brother, William Chabal of Mount Pleasant; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her father and two grandparents. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. The celebration of life service for Mrs. Miksch will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with the Revs. Colton Clay and Dan McClure officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Washington. Memorials have been established for Washington County Fairground Improvements and Washington High School Scholarship Fund.
