She was born January 31, 1928 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Henry Jackson Smith and Lucille Earls Smith. Her husband of 27 years, Louis Guy Mitchel whom she married November 20, 1947 in Montezuma died February 26, 1975. Survivors include one daughter, one son-in-law, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Doan on June 25, 2003, two brothers, Artie and Dannie Smith, one sister, Patsy Smith; She was a 1946 graduate of Montezuma High School. She was a member of the Montezuma Christian Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, starting at age 19 on an organ that her father built. Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, September 4, at Montezuma Christian Church, 1081 N. Jefferson Street, Montezuma. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Montezuma. Visitation is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday at the Church. Care and arrangements entrusted to Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
