She was born on May 31, 1926 at the home of her grandmother, Anna Costich on Lyons Hills, Springdale, WA to Harold and Ethel Vietzke. She was born on May 31, 1926 at the home of her grandmother, Anna Costich on Lyons Hills, Springdale, WA to Harold and Ethel Vietzke. In 1932 the family moved to Ellensburg, WA where Peggy went to elementary school and graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1944. Following graduation, she moved to Seattle and worked at Boeing Aircraft until the war ended then returned to Ellensburg and worked at Washington Motor Coach as a ticket clerk. She met Allen Hull, who had recently been honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and was then driving bus for Washington Motor Coach. Allen and Peggy were married on January 12, 1946 in Missoula, Montana. They were married for 56 years when Allen passed away in February 2002. They moved to Colville in 1952 with their two children, Christine and Dean. Peggy worked for KCVL Radio Station, was credit manager for JC Penney Co., Spruce Canyon Youth Forest Camp, Dept. of Social and Health Services, and retired in 1982 from the Stevens County Treasurer’s office. For the next 13 years Peggy and Allen worked for Steinley Studios doing photography at horse race tracks throughout the Western US. Allen did the photo-finish and Peggy did the winner’s circle photos. She loved the job because she only worked with “Happy People”, because their horse had just won the race. Peggy enjoyed working with youth. She and Allen were leaders of a 4-H horse club “Saddle Cinchers 4-H Junior Sheriff’s Posse”. Most of the time for the next few years, when they weren’t working, they were traveling or practicing with the kids and their horses. She attended several sessions of Girl State held annually at Central Washington University in Ellensburg as housemother and counselor under the auspices of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the chaperone for many of the rodeo royalty trips when they visited many rodeos and other functions around the state. In 1981 she was appointed to the newly formed Selective Service Board by Governor Spellman. She remained on the board for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Peggy was President of the Stevens County Democratic Women for a total of 15 years and was active in the Washington State Federation of Democratic Women. She was a 30 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 27 year member of Ft. Colville Grange, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, honorary member of the Marine Raider Assn, 3K, 8 et 40, the Eagles Lodge and had recently joined the Daughters of the American Revolution. Peggy was an avid reader of anything in print and always carried a book that she could read in any slack time. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. She thoroughly enjoyed spending as must time as possible with her grandson, Jason; great-grandsons, Zachary and Tyler and great-granddaughter, Katelyn. She and Allen traveled extensively and enjoyed visiting with people from the regions they visited. Survivors include her daughter, son, grandson, 2 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, parents Harold and Ethel Vietzke, brother Don Vietzke, brother-in-law’s Ivan Hull, Irvin Hull, Dan Ferguson, and Grant Luden; sister-in-law’s Reathel Luden, and Nadine Ferguson.
