Description	:	Peggy Ruth Daniels, 74, wife of Henry G. Daniels, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Born in Rockingham, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William Hardy and Dora Edith McCrumbee Maples. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. A graduate of Rockingham High School, she cultivated her lifelong love of the performing arts through her active participation in the school's drama and music programs. Following graduation, Mrs. Daniels worked for Bell Telephone Company in Rockingham, leaving after more than a decade of service to care for her family. Upon moving to Columbia in 1968, she and her husband... Read More	Peggy Ruth Daniels, 74, wife of Henry G. Daniels, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Born in Rockingham, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William Hardy and Dora Edith McCrumbee Maples. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. A graduate of Rockingham High School, she cultivated her lifelong love of the performing arts through her active participation in the school's drama and music programs. Following graduation, Mrs. Daniels worked for Bell Telephone Company in Rockingham, leaving after more than a decade of service to care for her family. Upon moving to Columbia in 1968, she and her husband dedicated countless hours as foster parents for the Alston Wilkes Society. In addition to working with foster children, Mrs. Daniels also provided daycare services for a small number of boys and girls, each of whom became a "surrogate grandchild." Surviving are her husband of 48 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Dedra and Jimmy Mount of Irmo; brothers, Welford Maples and William Maples Jr., both of Rockingham, and Dwight Maples of Camden; three granddaughters, Leighton Creed Mount, Hannah Margaret Mount and Mattie Ellen Mount of Irmo; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daniels was predeceased by a brother, Hubert Maples of Hamlet, N.C. Services for Mrs. Daniels will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, with burial in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
