She was the youngest of 8 siblings, and was last living member of her family. Although the family was poor in means, they were rich in love and affection. Peggy attended Springdale High School until leaving Arkansas to marry the love of her life, James Truby Gage in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. There, their first born, Mark Dudley Gage. The family returned to Arkansas, where Matthew Lynn and Kim Eugene were born. She and the family lived in Norco, CA during the boys formative years. She took high school courses at Corona Sr High, and graduated from High School the same year as Mark. She was a homemaker as the boys grew up, and later worked in such various jobs as a donut shop worker, a collections agent, and, after moving to Tulsa, a private home healthcare worker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, lived out the remainder of her days in her Condominium on E 30th palace. She is survived by Mark and his wife Heather, Matt and his wife Tracy, and Kim, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She passed away peacefully at home on November 8th, 2020. Dear Friends and Family My mother, Peggy Gage went to be with our Lord and Savior on 8 November 2020, after being ill with heart disease for many years. She appeared to have died peacefully in her sleep at her home, as was her wish. She valued her freedom and independence fiercely. We were fortunate in that she was able to accompany us to Cocoa Beach for her 80th Birthday, and to Branson just this last month. If you are reading this, know that you are near and dear to our hearts. As such, we would be honored if you were able to attend either one of my mom’s services. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be understandable if you are unable honor her in person. We know that all of you will be honoring her in your heart. Please be advised that masks will be required at both services. We will have extras in case anyone forgets. There will be 2 services, as mom had many friends and family in both Tulsa and in her native town of Springdale, AR. The first service will be at Merge Church in Tulsa on Sat, Nov 21st 2020 at 3:00 pm. Pastor David Gilliam (Heather’s father) will officiate. The address for Merge is 4050 Southwest Blvd, in Tulsa. Please see their website if you need directions. The church is a converted Rexall Drug store. There is limited parking in their parking lot, however, the business behind Merge has consented to allow parking there. The second service will be at The City Church NWA in Springdale, AR on Sunday, Nov 22nd 2020 at 4:00 pm. Our brother-in-law, Pastor Chris Rathbone will conduct that service. The address for The City Church is 589 White Road, Springdale, AR. The City Church is new and growing. They are located in a strip mall. We considered a gravesite service, but rain is expected that day, so Chris was gracious in offering us use of their facility. At both services, you will be given an opportunity to share a sentiment about mom. In order to minimize exposure to COVID-19, we ask that you try to keep you stories brief. Internment will be a private engagement at Forest Park Cemetery in Springdale, next to her beloved mama and daddy, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to either Merge Church or City Church. Both churches are actively serving to feed others in the community as hallmarks of their ministry. Peggy enjoyed hosting and feeding others when she could…so we invite you to share in that joy, and honor her by doing the same for the communities these churches serve. Mark Gage . The second memorial Service for Peggy Gage in Springdale was Canceled due to the Coronavirus. A Eulogy For Mom “There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the work of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are measures of overwhelming grief, and unspeakable love” These words from the great American poet Walt Whitman have been ever present in my mind for the thirteen days now since her passing. I read those words because, while trying to prepare for what I was going to say today, words failed me My brothers and I were fortunate to be the sons of such a beloved woman, and it will always be an honor to call her our mom. I’m still honestly in shock that she is gone. My memories of her, and even the way I felt about her, are difficult to describe. What I can say is that mom was a firecracker. She was fierce when she needed to be, and tender when that was what was called for. We disagreed about a great many things, and for a long time, and although those differences were sometimes great, mom continued to give the greatest gift that any mother can give…she loved me, and my brother Matt, and my brother Kim, unconditionally. Mom fiercely loved her independence, and was so proud of her little place on East 30th place. She told me many times that she didn’t want to die in a hospital or a nursing home. I believe that she passed in a manner that we would all like to…peacefully, in our sleep, in our favorite bed, wearing our favorite pajamas…ready for the journey beyond, and having made reluctant peace with the proximity of death and unaware of when the day would come. Please take a moment to look at the people around you. Some of them you may know well. Others may be passing acquaintances, and some of them, you might be meeting for the first time. We come from different walks of life, and came into her lives at different times. The one thing that we all have in common is that we all cared about Peggy Sue, and those of us who were blessed to know her well, loved her deeply, as we were also loved. I am grateful to each of you for recognizing my mother as the remarkable woman that she was. My brothers and I thank you for taking the time to be here today, and special thanks to my wife Heather. Without her love and support, I could have never gotten through these difficult days. I love you Mom. Rest easily. We’ve got it from here.
