Description	:	FOWLER, PERCY CHARLOTTE—Percy Charlotte Fowler was born on July 23, 1919, in Colome, S.D., the third of eight children born to George and Myrtle Mann. Percy grew up on a farm west of Clearfield, S.D., and attended Millboro high school, where she graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1937. Read More	FOWLER, PERCY CHARLOTTE—Percy Charlotte Fowler was born on July 23, 1919, in Colome, S.D., the third of eight children born to George and Myrtle Mann. Percy grew up on a farm west of Clearfield, S.D., and attended Millboro high school, where she graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1937. Shortly after graduation, Percy moved to Valentine where she worked as a waitress. In 1940 she met Wayne Fowler, and they were united in marriage on October 30, 1952, in Valentine. Four children were born during the remaining 15 years they resided in Valentine. In 1957, the family moved to Ainsworth where Percy worked as a waitress at Master’s Café and later at Weston’s Café. In 1965, Wayne traveled to Geneva to begin building the rest home which was then called the colonial Manor. Percy and the two children who were still living at home followed a year later to settle permanently in Geneva. A short while after coming to Geneva, she began working as a nurse’s aide at the Colonial Manor, which was later renamed Heritage of Geneva. She worked at Heritage for 17 years until her untimely illness forced her to resign in October 1984. Percy had a deep and true compassion for the elderly people in her care. Her work at Heritage was more than a job to her, and the help and care she provided very often went far beyond her working hours. Nothing was more dear to Percy than her family, but the heartfelt love she had for the very old and the very young, a love which was returned, was an important part of her life. Her death, on February 24, 1985, at Fillmore county Hospital brought to an end the life of a dear person who will be sadly missed by those who loved her. Percy is survived by her husband, Wayne, two daughters, Shirley Schmidt of Valentine and Sheri Jabbarrian of Omaha, a son, Wayne of Omaha, eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters, Lela, Maxine and Delores, all of Winner, S.D., Dorothy of Carter, S.D., and Twila of Valentine, and a brother, Bud of Clearfield, S.D. She was preceded in death by a sister, Isabell, her father, George Mann, a son, Tom; and her mother Myrtle Mann. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son funeral home in Geneva with the Rev. Donald F. Marsh officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Curtis Prater who sang “God Bless American” and “How Great Thou Art.” Those serving as pallbearers were Raymond Erich, Alvin Loghry, Jerry Boo, Don Wilkins, Wayne Willcoxon and Charles Krupicka.
