Drew, a native and former resident of New Germany, but for the past 25 years making his home in Lowell, Mass., where he resided at 44 Schaffer Street, passed away suddenly early Sunday morning, October 19, at St. John's Hospital, Lowell, aged 65 years. He was born in New Germany, the son of the late James and Phoebe (Feindel) Drew, and spent his younger years in that community, coming to Lowell over a quarter of a century ago. Mr. Drew was a well-known ice and oil dealer in Lowell , having established his own firm about 11 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dora M. (Oikle) Drew; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche M. Johnson of Spring Valley, San Diego, California; three sons, James T.H. Drew; Reginald W. Drew; and Wallace E. Drew, all of Lowell; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Lohnes of New Germany; and Mrs. Minnie Hale of Haverhill, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Lowell Fuel Dealers Association. Funeral services for Mr. Drew were held from the Morse Funeral Home, Lowell, Thursday afternoon, October 23, at 3 o'clock, and were largely attended. Rev. Arthur M. Jeffries, pastor of the Chelmsford Street Baptist Church, of Lowell,officiated. During the service, appropriate hymns were sung in duet by Mrs. Nathaniel Decatur and Mrs. William Ratcliffe. They were accompanied by William Hoyle, organist, who also played appropriate organ prelude and postlude selections. There were many beautiful flowers. The bearers were William Doyle, Leslie Flye, Charles Ringer, Orral Sayball, Orrin Sayball, and James Weatherbee. Interment took place in the family lot in Edson Cemetery, Lowell, where the committal prayers were read by Rev. Mr. Jeffries. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
