He died on 20 March 1922 at the age of 43 in Strathmore, Alberta. He was buried in Strathmore, Alberta. He came to Canada with his parents. Percy Harvey (he was generally called by his second name, Harvey) joined the North West Mounted Police and in 1898 was stationed in Dawson City and other posts in the Yukon. He was a constable at that time. These were the days of the Klondike gold rush. News of the gold find flashed around the world and Dawson City grew from a half dozen log huts to a population of over twenty thousand in two years. Percy was stationed at Five Finger Rapids. Several boats had overturned there previously and the occupants drowned. The Mounties inspected boats and made women and children disembark to walk around the rapids. In 1900 to 1902 members of the N.W.M.P. were granted leave of absence to serve in the South African war. Percy Harvey joined up with his brother, Jack, and was with the 14th Troop, "B" Division, South African Constabulary. On his return in 1903 Percy Harvey stopped to visit his parents in England. They had returned to England from Canada due to the health of his mother and were living in the Liverpool area. During the winter of 1903 Percy Harvey met Julia Carroll who was living in Calgary. They were married February 15, 1904. They later moved to the Strathmore area, east of Calgary. In 1908 Percy was employed with the newly formed CPI (Canadian Pacific Irrigation) District as a ditchrider. He worked for them for a number of years. In 1922 Percy Harvey had a chance to buy a piece of land west of the Bell place and he did so. One early morning in March while they were busy moving Percy decided to walk over to a nearby neighbour's place, Vein Ingles, to say goodbye. He carried with him his .22 rifle to shoot gophers. On the way while crawling through a fence the rifle accidentally discharged into Percy's chest. A farmer, Clark Manning, saw him in passing and brought him home but he died two hours later. Percy Harvey is buried at Strathmore. His wife, Julia, lived to be 93 and is buried beside her husband.
