Baugh and Eva May Bartrem were married July 21, 1909 at Kent County, Ontario. --- A long-time resident of the Stettler area, Mr. Percy Levi Baugh, passed away at the Stettler Municipal hospital on September 27th, 1968, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Baugh was born at Bayfield, Ont., on May 8, 1883. He spent his boyhood in southern Ontario and graduated from Teacher's College in London. In 1907 he came west to teach at Summerberry, Saskatchewan. Two years later he went back to Oilsprings, Ontario where he married Eva May Bartrem. They returned to Summerberry where he continued teaching until 1912, when feeling the urge to go farming, he homesteaded in the Pollockville district in Alberta. It was there that they raised their family, and when the dry years came, Mr. Baugh supplemented the family income by teaching in various schools in that area. In 1931, the family moved to the Stettler district. Soon after, his eyesight began to fail and he was forced to retire from active farming. He then taught himself to read Braille, although he still retained partial sight. Mr. Baugh never lost his zest for life, even with his handicap. His many interests included gardening, music, politics, travelling and painting. His chief interest was painting, and in his later years he painted over 650 pictures. These he placed in the homes of his relatives and many friends. Mr. Baugh was predeceased by his wife, Eva May in 1948 and leaves to mourn his loss, four children--Jim of Stettler; Mrs. Peter (Dorothy) Annable of Calgary; Glen of Stettler; and Mrs. Ken (Winnie) Simon of Stettler; fifteen grandchildren, as well as one brother James of Calgary and one sister Mrs. O. Coldwell of Strathmore. Funeral services were held at the Stettler United Church on Monday, September 30th, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Evans officiating. Interment followed at the Lake View Cemetery at Stettler. Stettler Independent Alberta Death Reg. #1968-08-007955
