Payne Former Madison Man Summoned DIES AT HOME OF SON IN ORCHARD. – AN EARLY RESIDENT HERE. Word was received in Madison this week telling of the death of Percy W. Payne who passed away at the home of his son, Lester, in Orchard, Nebr., Saturday, Nov. 7th. Although Mr. Payne had been in poor health for the past several years, his death came unexpectedly following a stroke of paralysis. Percy Wilde Payne was born at Nebraska City, Nebr., July 19th, 1865. When but a small child his parents moved to Hamburg, Ia., where they lived until he was 17 years of age. Following their residence in Hamburg they moved to Madison where they resided until 1892 when they removed to Elgin, Nebr. During their residence in Madison Mr. Payne lived with his father, the late John Payne, who then occupied the O. S. Christian farm east of Madison. On June 24, 1891, he was united in marriage to Anna Everhart. To this union were born three sons, John C. who died in infancy; Raymond A. of Elgin and Lester A. of Orchard. Funeral services were held at Orchard and the body taken to Elgin where burial was made in the West Cedar Valley cemetery. Rev. W. A. Rominger of Meadow Grove, conducted the services.
