Sones and Matilda Unger OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, February 17, 1927 MRS. PERMILLA CHAPPELL Permilla Jane Sones, daughter of Isaac and Matilda Sones, was born April 3, 1848, in Sullivan county, Pennsylvania, and passed away at her home in Oakley on February 8, 1927, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Sheller Chappell on April 19, 1866. To this union were born two children, Daniel L. and Ella May, both of whom, and also the husband, have preceded her in death. She came to Warren county, Iowa in 1880, where she lived a few years and then came to Lucas county, where she spent the remainder of her life in and near Oakley. She leaves to mourn her departure six brothers, Peter, Joshua and Thomas Sones, of Long Beach, Calif., Ellis, of Cherokee, Ia., William, of Lacona, and Ira, of Norwood, and four grandchildren, Mrs. Ira Eggleston and Charley Chappell, of Oakley, Mrs. Forest Ashby, of Russell, and Freeman Chappell, of Chariton, and eight great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances for to know her was to love her. She was converted when quite young and has lived a devoted Christian life, ever ready to testify to the goodness of her Lord and Master. She was kind and loving to all with whom she came in contact. During her last illness she expressed many times her willingness and desire to go to meet her Savior. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Moon, pastor of the M. E. church, of which she was a member. Music was furnished by the male quartet. A large circle of friends attended the last sad rites and the remains were laid to rest in the Niswender cemetery.
