Description	:	Perry F. Shibles, 92, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1992, at an Augusta hospital after a long illness. He was born in Knox, Feb. 9, 1899, the son of Harvey and Bertha (Foster) Shibles. He graduated from Freedom Academy in 1917, received his B. S. from Colby College in 1927 and a master's degree from the University of Maine in 1940. His professional career spanned six decades beginning as an elementary school teacher in Knox in 1917. Shibles, 92, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1992, at an Augusta hospital after a long illness. He was born in Knox, Feb. 9, 1899, the son of Harvey and Bertha (Foster) Shibles. He graduated from Freedom Academy in 1917, received his B. S. from Colby College in 1927 and a master's degree from the University of Maine in 1940. His professional career spanned six decades beginning as an elementary school teacher in Knox in 1917. He held sperintendencies in Union 67, Freedom, Union 63, Hartland and the Dover-Foxcroft area between 1924 and 1941 prior to becoming superintendent of schools in Augusta in 1941. He became Associate Executive Secretary of the Maine Teachers Association as Director of Legislation and Research until his retirement in 1967. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dollie (Myrick) Shibles of Augusta; one son, Dr. Foster Shibles of East Boothbay; three grandsons, three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom. (Republican Journal)
