He served in the US Army during WWII and was... Read More	Peter A. Kraft, 91, Linton, ND, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in the Linton Hospital. Peter was born May 17, 1917 in Strasburg, ND, the son of Adam and Agnes (Schmaltz) Kraft. He attended school in Strasburg and in the Winona area. He graduated from Linton High School in 1936. Pete taught country school for three years. He married Agnes Kramer on November 4, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Krassna, ND. Pete attended Minot State Teachers College where he received his degree in education. He served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in February of 1946. Pete attended the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science where he received his Mortuary Science Degree in 1947. He opened a funeral home in Strasburg before opening Kraft Funeral Home in Linton in 1949, which he owned and operated it for 33 years until July of 1980. He was a member of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association as well as the National Funeral Directors Association. Pete operated the ambulance service, served as Emmons County Coroner and was a substitute teacher. Pete also served one term as the Mayor of Linton. Pete was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Strasburg VFW and Linton American Legion. Pete had been the Linton American Legion Chaplain for the past 45 years and was Adjutant at the Strasburg VFW for 25 years. Pete was very instrumental in getting the Linton Hospital and the Strasburg Care Center built. He had been on the Board of Directors at the care center since its inception. Pete is survived by two sons: Thomas and Karen of Fargo, ND, and Michael and Karen of Superior, WI; two daughters: Mary and Mark Krump of Bismarck, ND and Tillie McDonald of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994, two daughters, Lorraine Gross and Ramona Kraft; two sons, Robert Leo Kraft SP-4 in Vietnam, and Patrick Kraft, five brothers and one sister. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND, with Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
