He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of twelve years ans settled on a farm north of Carbon. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Curry. There were eleven children in the family, four of whom are still living, namely, Mrs. Malinda Drennan, Mrs. Julia Moore, Alex of Creston, and John of Council Bluffs. He was married to Mary Jane Waters February 7, 1888 at St. Timothy's church, Reno, by Father Bead. To this union seven children were born: the living are Aelred Vernon, Mrs. Charles Miller, and Mrs. John Hertzog. Edward died at the age of four, Florence at the age of sixteen, and Willie at the age of twenty-five. Besides his loving wife and children, he leaves seven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Requiem High Mass was celebrated Tuesday morning at ten o'clock by Rev. Father Dower who was assisted by Rev. Father Powers and Rev. Father O'Donald. Monsignor McManus of Council Bluffs preached the funeral sermon. His body was laid to rest in Calvary cemetery beside the dear ones gone before, all of whom, we trust, welcome his coming to that heavenly bliss which we all pray to attain, when our work on earth is finished. Mr. Curry was held in high regard by his many friends and fellow workers, to most of whom he was known as "Uncle Pete." His life was devoted to his wife and children and he had the happy faculty of making and holding friends as was evidenced by the large numbers present from the neighborhood and distant points. Many beautiful floral offerings and spiritual bouquets symbolized the heartfelt sympathy of his many friends and the beauty of his simple, kindly, and generous nature. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the beloved family in this bitter trial and only the heart of a loving God can comfort in such a sorrow and give to the bereaved ones the grace of manly resignation to the will of the Heavenly Father. Those from a distance were Alex Curry of Creston, John Curry of Council Bluffs, Mrs. John Talty, Thelma and Norbit Talty, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Grote of Neola, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Houck of Bedford, and Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Flanagan of Omaha.
