Description	:	Peter (Pete) B. Eagle-Horse George Sr., 83, of Nespelem, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center in Nespelem. Pete was born at Kartar Valley, Wash., on Nov 13, 1922, the son of Coxit and Christine George. Eagle-Horse George Sr., 83, of Nespelem, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center in Nespelem. Pete was born at Kartar Valley, Wash., on Nov 13, 1922, the son of Coxit and Christine George. Pete grew up in Kartar Valley and went to school at St. Mary's Mission and Chemawa Indian School in Eugene, Ore. Pete married Laura Courville in 1944 whom he met while at Chemawa. She was a member of the Salish-Kootenai tribe in Montana. Pete's career began at Grand Coulee Dam project until completion as well as Chief Joseph Dam while living in Nespelem. He and Laura then moved the family to California in 1954. He worked on a dam project near Longbarn, Calif. In 1965 they moved to Oklahoma where he worked for the Cherokee Nation as a land surveyor. They lived in Montana in 1979 and returned to Nespelem in 1981. Pete worked for the Colville Tribe as a land surveyor and at the council chambers as a security officer until retirement. His interest has always been with his music, playing traditional western swing music with some rock and roll. Pete sang and played the guitar for many activities. He had his own dance band for many years. Country western was his specialty but he could sing anything. Pete was known for his professional but humorous manner when it came to entertaining crowds. His accomplishments included TV and radio performances while in California. He dreamed of becoming a recording artist and share his voice to the masses. Many have seen him in his traditional regalia at many pow wows. He was asked at various events to lead the Grand Entry which he was proud to do, including the Omak Stampede, Gathering of the Nations Pow-Wow and the International Pow-Wow in Honolulu, Hawaii. Pete will be remembered for his contributions to the Native ways. Born in a tee-pee, lived in a log house, moved to the outside world then came back again to his roots. He will be missed by many relatives, friends, and family. He has asked to be forgiven for his sins in this life and hopes the Creator will bless his journey to the next. Pete's wife Laura preceded him in death in 1986. He is survived by his daughter Gloria Hammond and husband Michael, and children Twila, Bambi, Michael, Mark and Amber, all of Oklahoma; his son Peter (Sonny) George and his boys Travis, Cody, and LJ of Nespelem; his daughter JoAnne Stopp and husband Thomas, their son Sean and daughter Leila all from Oklahoma; his daughter Linda Standing Cloud of Oklahoma and her daughters Kimberly of Calif., and Heather and Jennifer of Oklahoma and his youngest daughter Gaylene Helms and husband Michael and their daughter Fawn of Montana. The rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the Nespelem Community Center. The funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at the Nespelem Community Center. Pete was buried at the Kartar Valley Cemetery.
