Peter Buntgen in his 63d year street commissioner in David City for a number of years, passed away in the David City hospital Thursday May 21 from heart trouble after a long illness. He had been bedfast 4 1/2 months. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, conducted by Rev W. A. Murphy. The pallbearers were Fred Welte, Floyd Wrede John Schweser, John Williamson, Peter Relsdorff, and Peter Vanderheiden. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Among those in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Relsdorff, Miss Elizabeth Sweenie, Mrs. Don Biatto and son, Mrs. Emma Mathieu and and [sic] Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mathieu and son of Omaha, Tony Buntgen of Albion, Miss Ella Schlesinger of Lincoln, Mrs. Frank Leimser and son and daughter, Lawrence Leimser and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lewis and Oscar Adkisson of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rasp and daughter of Gresham, Mrs. John Rasp of Shelby, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Disney of Surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Disney of Loup City, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Kilgore of San Diego, Calif., Messrs. and Mesdames Harry Kilgore, Frank Alt, Lewis Kallenbach and Will Schlesinger, Mrs. Charles Weber and family, and Mesdames Pearl Suddarth and Ralph Stryker of Rising City, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Buntgen of St. Edward, Joe Krchnavy of Scotia, Joe Krchnavy Jr. of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Janousek of Loma, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Janousek of Brainard. Peter Buntgen was born at Sunzing, Germany September 17, 1879 and came to the United States at the age of 12 years. He was married in David City April 12, 1904 to Tony Janousek who survives him, as do their five children, three sons and two daughters, namely Charles Buntgen and Mrs. Harry Kilgore of David City, Mrs. R. H. Thomazin of Prairie City, la., Clinton Buntgen in the U. S. Army and Harry Buntgen at home. All were present at their father's funeral except Clinton, and he had visited at home a few weeks ago. Also surviving Mr. Buntgen are five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Relsdorff of Omaha and Mrs. W. W. LaMunyon of David City, and two brothers, Joe Buntgen of David City and Tony Buntgen of Albion. Mr. Buntgen farmed near Rising City until 1902, when he and his family moved to David City. He was a member of the Catholic church and the M. W.
