Peterson Dies as Result of Injury In Fall Peter C. Peterson, 78, died at his home 1404 Fourth street, Nevada, from the effects of a fractured skull sustained in a fall Thursday evening. Mrs. Peterson, with their eight surviving children, together with friends, was at his bedside when the expected end came. Peterson, born at Yale, Denmark, February 22, 1865, came to America with his parents, Jens and Marn Peterson, when but six years of age. The father, cabinet maker, settled in Nevada and here Peter attended the public schools, and grew to manhood, following in the footsteps of his father and became a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a capable workman and continued at that trade during his active years, or until impaired eyesight necessitated his retirement form active work. He was married to Anna Meyers, at Marshalltown, August 13, 1889, and to this union ten children were born. One son, Glen died at the age of 3 years and a daughter Alma passed away in 1918. Eight grew to manhood and womanhood, are married and settled in homes of their own, and they with the good wife, who with the deceased celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their home in 1939, survive him. They are Mary, now Mrs. Walter Helin of near St. Anthony; Bessie, Mrs. Roscoe Casad of Calamus, Marie, Mrs. M. F. Conley of Marshalltown; Ethel, Mrs. C. F. Crossley of Ames; Rose, Mrs. Donald Johns of Ames; Eva, Mrs. Howard Gore of Ames, and the two sons, John and Alfred Peterson, both of Nevada. There are also 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mr. Peterson was kind to his family in the home and will be deeply remembered and mourned by them all. He was proud of his family and of their many fine traits.
