Description	:	Peter Ficken, the son of Heinrich and his wife, Engel, nee Heintz, was born in Oersdorf, Kreis Stade, in the province of Hanover, in Germany, on August 1, 1862. Here he was baptized on August 10, 1862, and received his elementary and Christian education and was confirmed March 29, 1877, by Pastor J. W. Wiedenmann. He came to this country October 18, 1885, and spent his life in Seward county, and lived on the same farm for 47 years. Read More	Peter Ficken, the son of Heinrich and his wife, Engel, nee Heintz, was born in Oersdorf, Kreis Stade, in the province of Hanover, in Germany, on August 1, 1862. Here he was baptized on August 10, 1862, and received his elementary and Christian education and was confirmed March 29, 1877, by Pastor J. W. Wiedenmann. December 17, 1932, it pleased God to take his beloved wife from his side through death. Mr. Ficken joined Immanuel Lutheran church as a voting member and has been a faithful member ever since. On November 11, 1940, he was stricken with diabetes, and passed away suddenly at his home Jan. 20, 1943, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 20 days. He leaves to mourn his death the following: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pohlman, Garland; Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Ficken, Pleasant Dale; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thomas, Pleasant Dale; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gade, Seward; Martha and Frieda at home; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, six sisters and one brother, all of this community. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and 2:30 at Immanuel Lutheran church (Middle Creek) in charge of the local pastor, Rev. H. C. Marting.
