He found the body of Peter Hentges, where he had gone behind a building and taken his own life. The fact of suicide was so evident that no jury was called. Mr. Hentges had been drinking heavily for some time and was fairly crazed by continual sprees until he was unsafe to live with. Only a short time ago he attempted to commit suicide by swallowing some paris green and on Friday night he threatened to kill his daughter. On Saturday, about noon, he took an old army musket and arranged a string to the trigger with a loop attached to his foot in such a manner that he could hold the muzzle of the gun to his head and fire it by a kick with his foot. A portion of his head was torn away and death must have been almost instant. He leaves a family of considerable size and was aged about fifty five years.
