Griner, 59, of Ottumwa route 1, died at 3:05 a.m. today at the University hospitals at Iowa City after a lengthy illness. He had been an employe in the hog kill department at John Morrell & Co. for 38 years. He was born at Keota on October 28, 1900. He served in the armed forces following World war I. His marriage to Bernice McCoy took place in Kansas City, Mo. on February 12, 1945. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Lloyd Griner of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Chester McKim and Mrs. George Behymer, both of Ottumwa; 19 grandchildren; four half-brothers, Harry, Floyd and Charles McGee, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Harold McGee of Cedar Rapids; and four half-sisters, Mrs. Josephine Hudgins of Montana, Mrs. Henrietta Prochaska of Cedar Rapids and Viola of Kansas City, Mo. [Only three half-sisters named.] He was preceded in death by three daughters, a son and a stepson. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel. Griner, 59, of Ottumwa route 1, who died at the University hospitals in Iowa City at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Keith Knauss of the Calvary Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The local Veterans of Foreign Wars post will be in charge of military services at the grave. Pallbearers will be Harold Hamm, Neil Ritz, William Croft, Donald Jones, Sherman Crouse and Marion Randolph.
