Description	:	The Blaine County Journal, News-Opinion (MT), 23 Oct 2002 Peter Jacob Siemens, 88, went to ride the big open skies on October 18, 2002, when he died of natural causes at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, in the Little Gym of the Harlem High School. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, in the Little Gym of the Harlem High School. A horse drawn hearse escorted the family and friends to Pete’s final resting place next to his son’s grave in the Harlem Cemetery. Arrangements were by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Pete, the youngest of nine children born to Jacob and Marie (Klatt) Siemens, was born on February 26, 1914, on the family’s homestead north of Chinook. He was raised and educated in country schools north of Chinook. A well-known cowboy in this area, Pete broke many horses over the years and in the 1940’s many of the horses he broke were sold to the cavalry to be used during World War II. He will always be remembered for his love of horses and animals. On February 26, 1942, Pete married Edna Braunstadter in Great Falls and together they raised five children. He worked on construction in Bozeman for five years, returning to Harlem when he retired. Survivors include his wife Edna Siemens of Harlem; three daughters, Peggy (George) Zavalney of Bozeman, Penny (Roger) Snider of Harlem, and Patricia (Todd) Ruff of Belgrade; a son, Patrick (Wilma) Siemens of Big Fork; two sisters, Martha Rutherford of Redding, CA and Eva LaFranchise of Portland, OR; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Jacob Siemens, Jr. in 1972.
