Description	:	Peter Jahner, a resident of Bismarck for 62 years, was born in Landau, Russia, on July 9, 1864. Peter and his wife Eva were part of the Germans from Russia immigrants from Landau, Russia, known as Landau Colony Group, part of the Beresan Colonies District. Peter came to the United States in 1892, and worked on a steamboat owned by I. P. Baker which traveled from Bismarck to Washburn and old Cole Harbor. Read More	Peter Jahner, a resident of Bismarck for 62 years, was born in Landau, Russia, on July 9, 1864. Peter and his wife Eva were part of the Germans from Russia immigrants from Landau, Russia, known as Landau Colony Group, part of the Beresan Colonies District. Peter came to the United States in 1892, and worked on a steamboat owned by I. P. Baker which traveled from Bismarck to Washburn and old Cole Harbor. Later he clerked in a store and drove the mail stage from Bismarck to Painted Woods and Bismarck to Livona for Charles Kupitz, another pioneer. He married to Eva Eckroth in 1890 in Russia. She preceded him in death in 1916. He leaves six daughters, Mrs. J. A. (Kate) Thienes, Wayzata, Minn.; Mrs. John (Anna Marie) Karasiewicz, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. A. (Annabell) Sundby, Mrs. William (Pauline) Wray, Mrs. John (Margaret) Stair, and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Pinks, all of Bismarck; and two sons, John and Theodore Jahner, Bismarck; 29 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, William, and one sister, Mrs. Rose Staudinger, Mandan. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Feehan officiated at funeral services for Mr. Jahner, at St. Marys Catholic Church. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Peter Jahner, Charles Wray, Robert Sundby, William Pinks, Richard Pinks and Eugene Pinks. A rosary was said at 8 p.m. Wednesday, by the family and friends, at the Hall Funeral Home which was in charge of funeral arrangements.
