| Description | : | Peter was born in Davos-Frauenkirch, Canton Graubunden, Switzerland. He came to the United States in 1852, landing in New Orleans, from there going down south to Panama. He crossed, with several sisters and other relatives, from the Atlantic side to the Pacific side, walking, leading donkeys, fighting mosquitos and malaria. From the Pacific side he took a ship north toward San Francisco, from there in to Amador County. He worked in the gold mines for many years, raising his family in several different cities in Amador County. He died of Bright's Disease. |
