Description	:	Peter was the son of James Philp and Catharine (Wilson) Philp Pearson. After Catharine married her second husband, Peter worked as a live-in houseboy. Peter became a journeyman iron moulder. His first wife was Janet Elder, who died after giving birth to their first child; Peter reported Janet's death and their child's birth to the registrar on the same day. Peter's second wife was Elizabeth Anderson. Elizabeth and Peter came to Dakota Territory via Quebec City in 1880, bringing all their children along. After Catharine married her second husband, Peter worked as a live-in houseboy. Peter became a journeyman iron moulder. His first wife was Janet Elder, who died after giving birth to their first child; Peter reported Janet's death and their child's birth to the registrar on the same day. Peter's second wife was Elizabeth Anderson. Elizabeth and Peter came to Dakota Territory via Quebec City in 1880, bringing all their children along. The first things they did were file a declaration of intent to become a citizen and a homestead application. When Peter became a citizen, their homestead was proved up. According to biographical sketches of their time in Dakota Territory/South Dakota, Peter was well-known for being a raiser and breeder of good stock animals and was active in local government for the Republican Party. After about 20 years passed Elizabeth and Peter sold the homestead and moved to Watertown, the nearest good-sized town, where they lived until Peter died. After that Elizabeth lived with adult daughters until her death.
