Description	:	age 81 yrs [Peter Whittelsey, son of Elisha and Sarah (Jones) Whittelsey, b. Feb. 8, 1794, at Wallingford, Conn. Mr. Whittelsey removed to Leeds, N. Y., in his early manhood, where he established as a general merchant, and erected a beautiful dwelling on the banks of the Skeneateles Lake at Skeneateles, N. Y. During his early business career when the "liquor traffic" bill became a law he illustrated his hearty support of the same by pouring all the liquors then in his store out into the gutter. He was m. April 16, 1823, at New Haven, Conn., by the Rev. Harry Crosweir to Miss Betsey Hunt, b. Aug. 9, 1800, dau. of John Hunt and Betsey Atwater. In 1857, Mr, and Mrs. Whittelsey removed to Wallingford, Conn., where they remained until the death of Mr. Whittelsey, which occurred Aug. 31, 1875, after which Mrs. Whittelsey removed to the home of her daughter Mrs. Samuel E. Barney in New Haven, Conn., where she d. March 18, 1878. Their children were : 1. Sarah Ann, b. March 19, 1824, d. April 23, 1824. 2. A son, b. March 19, 1824, d. March 20, 1824. 3. Frederick, b.
