Description	:	Peter W. Carney was born Feb. 11, 1886, and died in St. Margaret's hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, May 3, 1925, aged 39 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Pete, as he was familiarly called, was born on the old home place south of Vermillion, where practically his whole life was spent, with the exception of two years spent at Nortonville, and one year in Colorado and South Dakota. Carney was born Feb. 11, 1886, and died in St. Margaret's hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, May 3, 1925, aged 39 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Pete, as he was familiarly called, was born on the old home place south of Vermillion, where practically his whole life was spent, with the exception of two years spent at Nortonville, and one year in Colorado and South Dakota. Pete Carney never was married, and since the death of his father, he has made his home with his mother, and by his devotion and care of her, he won the respect of the whole neighborhood. Pete was always a strong, healthy, robust man, never complaining, always jolly and making life pleasant for those about him, until the evening of May 2, when he was stricken with auitonitis, caused by the rupture of an ulcer which perforated the stomach. He was rushed to the hospital in Kansas City, as quickly as possible, where an operation was performed from which he never rallied, and the end came at 10 o'clock. Besides his aged mother he leaves, two sisters, five brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his untimely death. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church at Lillis on Wednesday, May 6, and interment was in the cemetery at that place. The Frankfort Index 21 May 1925 Page 6
