Description	:	Arthur Joseph Junker Arthur Joseph Junker was born November 11, 1922, at Emery, SD, to Peter and Lena (Heiter) Junker. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Sioux Falls where he attended Cathedral School. Arthur then joined the CCC and worked in the Black Hills. Read More	Arthur Joseph Junker Arthur Joseph Junker was born November 11, 1922, at Emery, SD, to Peter and Lena (Heiter) Junker. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Sioux Falls where he attended Cathedral School. Arthur then joined the CCC and worked in the Black Hills. His father passed away when Arthur was 15 years old. This led to a valiant and noble responsibility to provide for his mother and family. On February 26, 1943, he became active in the U.S. Army and served 44th Infantry in Germany. Following his honorable discharge on November 1, 1945, he returned to Sioux Falls. He married Vivian Hisel on July 20, 1945. Arthur then began working for Billion Motors as an auto mechanic. Throughout his career, he worked for various automotive businesses including Garvicks Garage. He retired in 1982, due to poor health. He was a member of the D.A.V. and St. Joseph Cathedral. Arthur enjoyed retelling service related stories and reminiscing about war history. In his younger years, he liked going fishing and hunting. Especially enjoyable to Arthur was a trip taken to the Black Hills with his family in 1991, in which he re-visited the project areas that he had helped build with the CCC as a young man. Soft-spoken and kind, his concern for the welfare of others was dominant in his life. Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Arden "Pete" Junker and his wife, Julie, Centerville, SD; two grandchildren, JuLynn and Braden Junker, Centerville, SD; his sister, Marion Junker, Sioux Falls, SD; three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Junker and Bernetta Mathison and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Mathison. Miller Funeral Home 507 S.
