Description	:	Gene Francis Klos was the first child of Frank Edward Klos and Amy Ruesink born on 10 May 1930 in Castlewood, South Dakota. Gene served his country during the Korean War. He served as a Private First Class in Company L, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, 8th Army. Gene enlisted on 21 Jan 1949 at the age of 18 in Castlewood, South Dakota. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on February 8, 1951 and returned to duty on March 3, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on March 7, 1951. Private First Class Klos was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
