Description	:	S/Sgt Lawrence Rohren, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rohren, living west of Seward, was killed in action on Okinawa, according to a brief item in part of last week's edition of the Independent. Word of his death was received by the family in a telegram from the war department, that came last Wednesday forenoon. The message stated that he was killed in action on June 10, 1945, but gave no details, which doubtless will be supplied as soon as available. Read More	S/Sgt Lawrence Rohren, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rohren, living west of Seward, was killed in action on Okinawa, according to a brief item in part of last week's edition of the Independent. Word of his death was received by the family in a telegram from the war department, that came last Wednesday forenoon. The message stated that he was killed in action on June 10, 1945, but gave no details, which doubtless will be supplied as soon as available. Lawrence left Seward in September 1942, when his parents saw him for the last time, as he had never had a furlough. He had participated in four invasions, the first at Attu, in the Aleutians, and some time later he was sent to the Hawaiian Islands, then out into the Southwest Pacific, where he participated in the taking of Kwajalein, Leyte, and lastly, Okinawa, where he met his death.Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Pfc. Harold Rohren, now home from Germany, and other relatives.T/S. Edward Rohren, a cousin, was killed in action at Leyte last November 9th. He was the son of Mrs. Fred M. Rohren of Seward.
