He was married in 1943 to Miss Regina Pearce of Kingman. They have one son, Lotus Lee Thiel, Jr. He took his training in Texas and went overseas the following June with an Infantry division. He was wounded last September 21 and received the Purple Heart. He was hospitalized in Italy until he was able to return to the front, Pfc. Lotus Thiel is survived by his mother, Mrs. Carrie Thiel; father, Joe Thiel; his wife, Mrs. Regina Thiel; son, Lotus Lee Thiel, Jr.; three sisters, Ione Thiel of Hutchinson, Leone Waters of Tulsa, Okla; Arlene Foster of Los Angeles, Calif; four brothers, Kenneth, Kermitt, and Dale of Duquion. The other brother, S 2-c Emmett, is in the South Pacific, and a host of relatives and friends. Pfc. Lotus Thiel is buried in a U.S. Army cemetery in eastern France.
