Read More	Rites Saturday For Exira Marine Who Died in War EXIRA - Last Rites will be held Saturday for Marine Pfc. Richard Wahlert, who was killed in Korea July 9, 1953, the last Audubon county man to die in the Korean War. The Rev. Stanley Larsen and the Rev. Samuel Wall will officiate at funeral services in the Exira Christian church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and burial will be in the Exira cemetery with the American Legion in charge of military rites. The body will arrive in Exira Friday morning. Private Wahlert, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wahlert, entered the Marine corps in November, 1951, and went overseas last November. He was 23 at the time of his death and became the third Exira man to die in the late war, the fourth from Audubon county. Born in Greeley township Aug. 3, 1929, Richard attended rural school at Greeley Center, and the Exira High school. He farmed with his brother, Walter, after graduating from high school in 1947, and until he entered the Marines. Survivors include the parents; three brothers, Walter and Marion, both of Exira, and James, Brush, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Inez Ahl, Longmont, Colo.
