Born Dec. 21, 1919 in Harrisonburg, Va., he was the son of the late Albert and Lena (Price) Day. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Frances (Snyder) Day; a brother, John Day; two sisters, Mary (Day) Zirkle and Jessie (Day) Alexander. Born Dec. 21, 1919 in Harrisonburg, Va., he was the son of the late Albert and Lena (Price) Day. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Frances (Snyder) Day; a brother, John Day; two sisters, Mary (Day) Zirkle and Jessie (Day) Alexander. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Day attended New Market High School and worked at construction jobs for various companies in the area. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a gunner. Mr. Day enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Bill and his late wife, Lucille, attended St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church. Surviving are three daughters, Gail Marie Day, Darla Lynn Day, Brenda Lee Day; friends and caregivers, Lisa and C.J. Snyder, Jan and Mike Lawson, Marna Meyers Morris and Fred Shook, all of Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral and committal services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sherrill Dillon officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Day requested that donations be given to the charity of one's choice.
