Noel was born September 15, 1917 in Highfill, Arkansas, the third daughter of Nicholas and Maude E. Douglas. As a youngster, her family moved to the Amherst area. A short time following, for reasons of health, the family relocated in California. Finally she and her family returned to the community of Holyoke, where she completed her education. Noel was born September 15, 1917 in Highfill, Arkansas, the third daughter of Nicholas and Maude E. Douglas. As a youngster, her family moved to the Amherst area. A short time following, for reasons of health, the family relocated in California. Finally she and her family returned to the community of Holyoke, where she completed her education. Following her graduation from high school, she moved to Denver, where she was employed by a large department store. On September 20, 1946 she married William R. Noel and the couple resided in the Denver area until retiring to Holyoke in 1978. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Denver and a supporting member of the Holyoke Baptist Church. She is survived by her mother, Maude E. Douglas of Holyoke her husband, William of Holyoke; a son, Russell, of Mitchell, Nebraska; a daughter, Susan Kay Swartwood of Holyoke; three grandchildren, Brady, Bethany and Miranda of Holyoke; four sisters Loraine Zion of Elbert, Dortha Cummings of Denver, Nadene Colver of Holyoke, and Margaret Faye Kempner of Castro Valley, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Services for Phadona H. Noel, who passed away at Logan County Hospital in Sterling, were held Friday, January 9, 1987 at the First Baptist Church of Holyoke with interment at the Holyoke Memorial Park.
