Here's a copy of her obituary (her birth year is wrong in the obit) from Hutchinson Herald, Sept 7, 1899 p8 c3-4: Newell—Pheba E. Hunter was born in Medway, Mass., Feb. 2, 1851; died at her home in Olivet on August 31, 1899. Her final illness lasted nearly eight weeks, being a complication of troubles, finally culminating in inflammation of the spinal nerve and brain fever, causing her to be unconscious for several days before her death. She was married to Wesley D. Newell on March 11, 1868. From this union twelve children were born, seven of them having crossed the river of death before her. The family moved from Massachusetts to Illinois in 1877, remaining there until the spring of 1879, when they moved to South Dakota, settling in the vicinity of Olivet. The deceased is well known in Olivet and vicinity. She was a loving wife and tender mother. She was one to always identify herself on the right side of questions of moral issue. Her earnest endeavor was to always promote good as far as lay in her power. She joined the Baptist church at North Bellingham, Mass., in 1870, of which she remained a member for some time after coming to Olivet when she identified herself with the Christian Church. That society afterward becoming extinct in Olivet she united with the Free Methodist Church in 1896 of which she remained as member until death. A husband, three daughters and two sons, with a large circle of friends mourn her loss. The community joins in sympathy with the mourning ones.
