Description	:	6-13-1906 – Wayland News Phebe Tarney was born in Franklin County, Ohio March 23, 1821. On December 30, 1847, she was married to Elijah Sherman Noble. In the fall of 1853, they moved in a covered wagon to Henry County, Iowa, where they lived till the husband’s death in November 1891. Here the widow continued to live with her daughter, Laura, till January 1900, after which she made her home with her son, Clayton, near Crete, Nebraska. Read More	6-13-1906 – Wayland News Phebe Tarney was born in Franklin County, Ohio March 23, 1821. On December 30, 1847, she was married to Elijah Sherman Noble. In the fall of 1853, they moved in a covered wagon to Henry County, Iowa, where they lived till the husband’s death in November 1891. Here the widow continued to live with her daughter, Laura, till January 1900, after which she made her home with her son, Clayton, near Crete, Nebraska. There were born to her five children, two of whom died in infancy. In 1861, she united with the Congregational Church in the Jessup log schoolhouse under the ministry or Rev. Elijah Smith. Always cheerful, loving, and helpful, wherever she went, she made friends. In the course of her illness, which resulted from the breaking of her right lower limb April 28, she was attended by her surviving children, Mrs. Laura E. Schott of Brookfield, Missouri; Clayton of Crete, Nebraska; and Alvin of Ames, Iowa; also by Mrs. Ida Flowers of Downs, Kansas who was almost like a daughter. She suffered much during her last six weeks but she bore the affliction sweetly and patiently. Sunday morning, June 10th, 1906 at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 18 days, she passed from the earthly life to the life eternal. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church, Wayland, Tuesday forenoon, June 12, conducted by Rev. H. T. Robinson, assisted by Rev. Mr. Graber of Noble, and interment was in the Wayland cemetery.
