Philip Edgar Patrick McDaniel, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McDaniel, was born near Guilford, in Nodaway county, Missouri, March the 8th, 1901, and departed this life November the 3rd, 1919, in Decatur county, near Leon, Iowa, being at the time of his death 18 years, 6 months, 3 weeks and 5 days old. Philip Edgar Patrick McDaniel, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McDaniel, was born near Guilford, in Nodaway county, Missouri, March the 8th, 1901, and departed this life November the 3rd, 1919, in Decatur county, near Leon, Iowa, being at the time of his death 18 years, 6 months, 3 weeks and 5 days old. He came to Iowa with his parents when he was 1 year and 4 months old and lived seven years of his well spent life near Ames, Iowa. He moved with his parents to Van Wert, Iowa, when he was eight years old and later to a farm near Leon, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Catholic church and lived a pure and true Christian life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a kind brother and a loving son. He was loved by all who knew, him. He leaves to mourn his early departure, a father, mother, two sisters and a brother. His funeral was held at St. Brendan's church in Leon. Services were conducted by Rev. Father Wm. Melville, of Des Moines. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery near Woodland. --The Leon Journal-Reporter, Leon, Iowa - Nov. 13, 1919
