Description	:	Rio Dell resident Philip Eugene "Hap" Ingersoll, age 72, passed away April 28, 1997, at his home surrounded by his family, after suffering courageously for a year with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Hap was born in Korbel, on Sept. 6, 1924, and was raised in the Korbel-Blue Lake area. In 1941, Hap joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Sebastopol where he trained as a sheet metal worker. Read More	Rio Dell resident Philip Eugene "Hap" Ingersoll, age 72, passed away April 28, 1997, at his home surrounded by his family, after suffering courageously for a year with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Hap was born in Korbel, on Sept. 6, 1924, and was raised in the Korbel-Blue Lake area. In 1941, Hap joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Sebastopol where he trained as a sheet metal worker. He joined the Army in 1942 and fought in World War II. In 1946, Hap left the Army and worked in various lumber mills. Hap settled into Pacific Lumber Company where he worked until his retirement in 1988 after 34 years. Hap loved to talk to people and he had a wonderful, mischievous smile -- hence the nickname Happy which was later shortened to Hap. Hap had many hobbies, but his favorites were horseshoe pitching, fishing and golf. He belonged to the Fortuna Horseshoe Club for many years until his illness. He was also an accomplished carpenter, building his own home which could rival any professional carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann; his two daughters, Phyllis and her husband, Mike Peals of McKinleyville, and Sindi and her companion, Charles Boston of Chico, his two grand children, Jasmine Ingersoll of Chico and Billy Rainwater and his wife, Janna, of Eureka; his stepbrother, Don Neuhaus and his wife, Lois of Loleta, his special nieces and nephews, Donna Parsells of Fortuna, Fred and Sonja Brand and their children, Erica and Frederick. "Go Home" Rick Brand, David Brand, Raymond Brand, all of Hamilton City, Donna Ramirex of Chapala, Mexico, and numerous other nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law, Aurora Ingersoll of Fortuna, his longtime friend and fishing buddy, Robert Stephen of Rio Dell, his special friends, Annet Bloem and her companion, Piet Genis, Robert Bloem and his companion, Adrie, all of Amsterdam Holland, Kees and his wife Elly Bloem of Almere, Holland, Piet and Sjouk Bloem of Amsterdam, Holland, and numerous other friends in Holland, Gene and Pat Triten of Eureka, Velma Dunn of McKinleyville, and his friends in the Horseshoe Club. Hap was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Gracie and Walter Neuhaus, his son, Philip Eugene Ingersoll, Jr., his brothers , Marvin and Don Ingersoll, and his sister Maxine Horn. The family would like to thank Larry A., Rita, Allyson, Joe and the rest of the gang from the Home Health for all their unending guidance, support and advocating with the doctors, Dr. John Gambin, Dr. Rodney Grover and Robin Smith FNP. The would also like to thank his niece, Donna Parsells, for all the help and support she has given over the last several months. Friends are invited to attend memorial services Thursday, May 1, 1997, at 11 A.M. at Goble's Chapel, Fortuna. Private interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery, Eureka. The family requests that memorial contributions be made for ALS Research at the Forbes H. Norris ALS Research Center, Attn: California Pacific Medical Center, Foundation, P.O.
