Description	:	Philip Gerszewski Phil passed away at home in Yuma Arizona on June 23, 2012. Phil courageously battled cancer for several months while his wife of 12 years, Judy, cared for him and was at his bedside when he died. Phil was born in North Dakota on January 16, 1935 to Eva and Philip Gerszewski. He joined the Navy in 1953 where he served for 23 years. Read More	Philip Gerszewski Phil passed away at home in Yuma Arizona on June 23, 2012. Phil courageously battled cancer for several months while his wife of 12 years, Judy, cared for him and was at his bedside when he died. Phil was born in North Dakota on January 16, 1935 to Eva and Philip Gerszewski. He joined the Navy in 1953 where he served for 23 years. During that time he traveled extensively both overseas and across the United States. He retired from the military in 1976 having earned the rank of Navy Seabee Chief (EOC7). He then settled with his family in the Red River Valley, including Grand Forks. He married Martha Novak in 1960 and they had four children: Wade, Karen, Bill and Debbie. Phil married Judy Flesche in 2000 and they made Yuma their home. Phil and Judy enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with their dog Brandy. Phil is survived by his wife Judy, his sister Ellen Button of Oslo, ND; his brothers Eddie Gerszewski of Grand Forks and Jerry Narlock, who resides in Texas; his sons Wade (Terry) of Fargo, ND and Bill (Heidi) of East Grand Forks ND, his daughter Debbie (Paul) Pedersen of Indianapolis, IN, and four grandchildren: Mason Gerszewski, Kaia Pedersen, Tor Pedersen, and Bode Pedersen. The family is grateful for the services of Hospice Campassus of Yuma and the compassionate caregivers that came into their home. A private memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton, ND on August 11 at 3 pm. .
