Pallbearers were Chester Krebs, Jim Bryson, Harry Selk, Frank Beedle, Marius Hansen, and Albert Anthony. Interment was at Mr. Hope cemetery, Scotia. Rites at the cemetery were conducted by the Reuben Beck Post No.150, American Legion. Philip J. Seefus, son of John G. and Sophia Seefus was born January 25, 1887, in Papillion, Nebraska. He attended schools in Douglas county and was graduated from the Waterloo high school in 1904. After attending the Fremont preparatory school he completed three years of college at the University of Nebraska college of law. After engaging in business several years with his father at Elkhorn, Nebraska, he operated a farm south of Scotia. In 1915 Mr. Seefus and his father became owners and operators of the Scotia Lumber and Implement business, and contineued in this business for several years. On Sept. 15, 1917, he was united in marriage with Amelia Bredthauer. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Philip, Jr. Mr. Seefus was preceded in death by his parents. Philip Seefus was highly respected and admired for his wholehearted leadership in many activities of the community. He gave much time and effort to business and recreational activities. He served as postmaster of Scotia for four years, accountant for the Scotia Cooperative Creamery as well as having many other business activities. He was a member of Reuben Beck Legion Post 150 for 45 years. He was a member of the armed forces in 1918 during World War I. Mr. Seefus was a member of Zion Lutheran church. At the time of his death he was 77 years, 10 months, and 10 days old. Surviving are his wife, Amelia; son, Philip J. Jr.; a sister Elsie Warren, and a brother, Dean Seefus, all of Scotia. One niece and one nephew and other relatives are left to mourn his sudden passing.
