He was a native of Pennsylvania, having been born in Woodbury County, that state, April 2nd, 1822. In 1855 he removed to Epworth, Iowa, where he resided ‘till his death which occurred June 29th. He worked his trade of carpenter and builder ‘till 1863 when he engaged in the mercantile business, and was an active business man until after the death of his wife in 1891, when he retired from business. June 7th, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Albrook, of Epworth. At the age of twenty years Mr. Keagy united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and for sixty years was an active and faithful member of the same. For more than forty-five years he was an official member of the church in Epworth. The deceased is survived by his widow and five children, viz: C. W. Keagy, of this city; Wm. Keagy, of Waterloo; Mrs. S. E. Husted, of Mason City; Mrs. S. B. Crist, of Washington, and H. R. Keagy of Epworth.
