Description	:	Philip Sheridan Markel farmed what was known as Galligher's Place, south of Silver City. He purchased a 70 acre tract in 1894 near the Markel Homestead for $3800. There he lived with his wife, Emma Irene Hahan Markel. Two sons were born to them, George Adam and Evan Lloyd Markel. After Philip's father Adam died in 1911 they moved to the Old Markel Homestead. Phil was always interested in livestock and raised Shorthorn Cattle and Poland China Hogs. He died in 1927.	Philip Sheridan Markel farmed what was known as Galligher's Place, south of Silver City.
