Read More	Husband of Lizzie Shuttlefield, m 4 Oct 1888 Parents: Jacob Snyder & Anna Schuff ******************************* Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," September 21, 1935: Philip Snyder, Former City Commissioner, Is Dead; Was 70 Years Old Philip Snyder, 70, a former city commissioner, died at his home on North Sheridan Avenue, at 8:10 pm Friday after an illness of five months. Mr Snyder was commissioner of streets from 1925 to 1927 while Seneca Cornell was mayor and Charles Sehl was commissioner of public safety. He was an unsuccessful candidate for re-election in 1927 and was again a candidate in 1935. A retired farmer and former well-digger, he was the son of Jacob and Anna Snyder and was born in Linn County August 7, 1865. Thirty-eight years ago he came to Ottumwa. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge No 9 here and a past noble grand of the organization, a position which he was forced to give up because of ill health. Surviving are Miss Lenora Wilt of Ottumwa, whom he reared; two sisters, Mrs Anna Smith of Osceola and Mrs Emma Williams of Pomeroy, Wash; one brother, the Rev J J Snyder of Elgin; and four nieces and seven nephews. Two brothers, George and Henry, preceded in him death. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the home and at 2:30 pm at the First Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev Harold Lancaster, D.D. The Odd Fellows will have services at the home and the grave. Burial will be made in the McCormick Cemetery at Highland Center. Pallbearers will be Glenn Morris, C W Martin, W A Myers, Otto Sayles, Frank Mercer, Tom Hughes, Ben Stahl and J R Layman. ***************************** Obituary provided by Debbie Truitt - Thanks!!
