Eber April 14, 1941 - Oct. 5, 1996 Philip T. EBER, a life long Fulton County resident, died Saturday after a ditch caved in on him at County Roads 1000 West and 250 South. Eber, 55, was a self-employed drainage contractor. He owned Eber Excavating, 2754 North Old U.S. 31, and had been in the business for more than 30 years. He and another person were working on a project when the accident occurred. He was in a ditch laying field tile when the side caved in and buired him under about five feet of earth. The cave-in occurred at about 2 p.m. and firefighters spent about an hour and a half digging his body out. He died of asphyxiation from the entrapment at 2:09 p.m. __________ Philip Thomas EBER, 55, Rochester, died at 2:09 p.m. Saturday when a ditch he was working on caved in at Fulton County Roads 1000 W. an 250 S. near Kewanna. Born in Rochester to John and Ruth WERNER EBER, he had lived his entire life in the community. He was a 1959 graduate of Rochester High School and had been a self-employed drainage contractor for over 30 years. He married Cathy GONCE on April 4, 1963 in Argos and was later divorced. He then married Patricia Ann CARTER McINTYRE on July 27, 1975 in South Bend. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Chad EBER, West Jordan, Utah; a step-daughter, Mrs Bruce (Denice) LLOYD; a step-son, Shawn McINTYRE, and a granddaughter, Johanna McINTYRE, all of Rochester. He is also survived by his father and step-mother John and Bea EBER, Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Sarah) GENTRY, Logansport, Mrs. Loretta ERICKSON, Rochester; several aunts ad uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother and a daughter Kristin [EBER], in 1964. Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Teal YOUNCE officiating.
