This one arrived in Ohio about 1810, was in the War of 1812, was buried at Trinity Cemetery, Hanover twp, Columbiana Co, Oh. (The other one moved to Portage Co, Oh. in 1804 where he died in Rootstown from an accident at a "hay scale," where he was "pinned" to a fence by "lurching" horses.) This Philip Willyard, buried at Trinity Cem., was the son of Johann Elias (who also lived in Columbiana County, OH), and named his son for his father. Millport Founders PHILIP WILLYARD Franklin, as [Millport] was known in early days, was laid out in January, 1853, by Philip Willyard and Hugh Laughlin. Philip Willyard was one of the pioneer settlers of Franklin township. He came from Frederick County, Maryland, with his wife and two children, and settled in November, 1805, upon Section 12. He died August 26, 1853, aged 36 years and 20 days. His wife, Catharine, died May 26, 1853, aged 76 years 10 months and 10 days. Both are buried in Trinity Cemetery. Mr. Willyard died in the latter part of the year of 1853, the year when Millport was laid out. Mr. Willyard owned much of the land in and around Millport at one time, having bought it from the heirs of William Laughlin.
