Description	:	Phillip E. Junso, 74, of Billings, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2006, following a long, courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis. He was born a twin to Richard Olaf Junso and Alta (Meseberg) Junso on June 23, 1931, in Watertown, S.D. Phil worked in his dad's cabinet shop until 1951. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a mechanic at the George Air Force Base in Victorville, Calif. Phil served in Iceland, setting up air defense for NATO. Junso, 74, of Billings, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2006, following a long, courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis. He was born a twin to Richard Olaf Junso and Alta (Meseberg) Junso on June 23, 1931, in Watertown, S.D. Phil worked in his dad's cabinet shop until 1951. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a mechanic at the George Air Force Base in Victorville, Calif. Phil served in Iceland, setting up air defense for NATO. He was released from active duty in 1953. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad as a fireman until 1954. Phil and Lois (Curley) Junso were united in marriage on Feb. 27, 1954, in Henry, S.D. From this union, they were blessed with four sons and one daughter. Phil pursued a career at Sanders Chevrolet dealership in Watertown before moving to Aberdeen, S.D., in 1960. He then went to work for the Gamble Company until 1971, when they purchased their own store in Sidney. Due to his arthritis, they sold the store in 1987. Phil and Lois moved to Billings in 2004 to make life a little easier and closer to the medical facilities. Phil was a devoted and loving husband and father. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always lifted his spirit. Even though Phil suffered a great deal on a daily basis, his humor and quick wit was his greatest asset. No one was ever a stranger to Phil; he quickly warmed the hearts of everyone he met. He was a generous, kind and giving man. Phil loved wheeling and dealing in cars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his sons. Phil was a lifetime member of the VFW, the Elks, American Legion and was in the Air Force Reserve for six years. His philosophy in life was to try to the best job one can and to be honest with people! Phil's Christian faith and belief in the Lord helped in all aspects of his life. He was a member of the Cum Christo movement, which was instrumental in his joining the Catholic faith. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Sidney for 19 years, and St. Bernard's of Billings until the time of his death. Phil is survived by his wife, Lois and beloved Shih Tzu, KaTee, of Billings; five children, Douglas Junso of Castle Rock, Colo., Jeffrey (Vickie) Junso of Belgrade, Pamela Junso of Glendive, Kevin (Niki) Junso of Baker and Joel (Julie) Junso of Billings; 10 grandchildren, Karen (John) Jones, Brandon Junso, Nicholas (Robin) Heinrich, Shaun Junso, Ryan Junso, Carissa Heinrich, Matthew Junso, Cole Junso, Milan Junso and Micah Junso; two great-grandchildren, Austin Heinrich and Tylie Wright. Phil is survived by one brother, Robert (Fern) Junso of Sun City, Ariz., twin sister, Phyllis (Robert) Lloyd of Watertown and sister Carol (Earl) Doyle of Prescott, Ariz.; sisters-in-law Margery Byer of Florence, S.D., and Donna (Kenneth) Byer of Rochester, Minn.; brother-in-law Dale Curley of Rocherd, Minn.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Tyler J. Junso on April 25, 2006; brother-in-law Herman Byer and sister-in-law Arlene Curley. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Committal will be in Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow in St. Bernard's social hall. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
